The Columbus Foundation and Affiliates—2006
- The assets of the Foundation totaled $979 million as of December 31, 2006. These assets are held in 1,569 funds, 29 supporting foundations, and one affiliated organization.
- Gifts to The Columbus Foundation totaled $107 million in 2006. Donors created 108 new funds.
- Distributed $65.6 million in grants to 1,640 nonprofit organizations.
- Grants paid since 1945, the Foundation's first grantmaking year, totaled $782 million, providing support for programs in the arts and humanities, conservation, education, health, community development, and social services.
- Awarded $72.3 million in grants to 6,582 charitable organizations from more than 1,000 named funds and supporting and affiliated foundations.
- Donors continue to include the Foundation in their future charitable giving plans. Planned gifts to the Foundation now total $702.1 million; 51 new planned gifts were created.
National Survey Ranking
According to the “2005 Survey of U.S. Community Foundations” The Columbus Foundation ranks 9th in overall asset size among 650 U.S. community foundations,12th in grants paid, and 16th in gifts received.

As a public charity, The Columbus Foundation takes its obligation to operate in the public view and the public interest very seriously. Accordingly, we make available our federal tax return (IRS Form 990) and our audited financial statements.
