Arts Challenge Frequently Asked Questions
Is this a long-term fund, or something that is granted this year?
The goal of this project is to match the Franklin County’s $600,000 challenge grant in calendar year 2009, and fully distribute all assets from the Arts Challenge Fund by the middle of next year, at the latest.
Can I make a contribution from my fund, by check or online with a credit card?
Yes, any of those are fine. Foundation donors with Donor Advised Funds can make a donor suggestion online, and those without Donor Advised Funds can make an online contribution using a credit card on the Arts Challenge Fund Initiative page of our website. Or, anyone can send in their contribution to us by mail, with a check made payable to the Arts Challenge Fund of The Columbus Foundation.
Can I designate my contribution to specific organizations within the list of 15 organizations listed on the reverse side?
No. This is a comprehensive investment program that involves all 15 organizations, who are organized under an unusual and productive collaboration of the organizations called Columbus Cultural Leadership Consortium (CCLC). So, all contributions to the Arts Challenge Fund are made to the fund as a whole, the proceeds of which will be distributed to each organization proportionally based on their budget size. This also allows for the entire group of 15 organizations to share equal commitment to the achievement of the eight components of progress listed on the reverse side.
What happens if matching funds are exhausted?
Donors who submit grant suggestions after the matching funds have been exhausted will be contacted by their Donor Services and Development Officer. If donors decide to grant to the Fund even though the grant will not be matched, their grant will be allocated proportionally based on their budget size to the 15 organizations.
