Passion Works Studio Demonstration

  • March 15, 2012   |   6:00 p.m. – 10:00 p.m.

During the gallery opening in the  Elijah Pierce Gallery, meet the artists of Passion Works as they inspire and delight viewers’ imaginations with whimsical images using bold, expressive colors. Three artists will demonstrate their process of creating original art.

Passion Works Studio supports collaborations between artists with and without developmental disabilities. Since 1998 the studio has created one-of-a-kind art pieces and translated artwork into items such as jewelry, ornaments, flowers, and greeting cards. Production of these pieces creates employment for people with and without developmental disabilities and generates a renewable funding stream to continue arts programming.

The exhibit will be featured from March 15, 2012 through May 19, 2012. Approximately fifty creative works with diverse styles in paintings, drawings and sculpture communicate a beauty, humor and passion by artists with disabilities. The works of art are expressive and evokes the viewer into their imaginative world. The official flower of Athens Ohio is the popular Passion Flower. These creative flowers varying in size and colors are created from recycled materials and radiate the coming of spring. “The art inspires and liberates the human spirit through art.
