The Big Table
The Big Table

The Big Table is a day of community building through conversations designed to strengthen and connect our community. Join the conversation!

On May 17, more than 5,000 residents are expected to participate in at least 500 conversations held across the region. The hosted conversations of 8-12 participants will revolve around a snack or meal, where people can express ideas about the strengths and challenges we face as a community.

Emphasis is not on finding immediate solutions, but rather on creating authentic human connection and civic engagement through the conversations that occur and the ideas that are shared. The Big Table will give participants an opportunity to share their thoughts about creating a promising future for our community together.

Host Toolkit

Find helpful tips to create your fun, successful Big Table experience! The toolkit has four parts. Download and print the parts that are most helpful to you, or download the full toolkit below.

  1. Preparing For Your Conversation. Explains your host responsibilities, offers tips on locations and refreshments, and contains an example email invitation for your use.

  2. The Conversation Guide. Helps you get the most out of your conversation with prompts, organization tips, and also the simple yet very important post-conversation duties of hosts.

  3. Social Media Tips. Helps you connect and share your #TheBigTable experience with others. While social media should be a supplement to, not a focus of, your conversation, it’s a great way to extend connections with your guests and other participants.

  4. Guest List. You guessed it, this guest list will assist us in gathering #TheBigTable feedback and ideas as we work to capitalize on momentum for future efforts.
