The Columbus Foundation Announces New Vice President and CFO Scott Heitkamp

Columbus, OH (April 25, 2016)—Douglas F. Kridler, President and CEO of The Columbus Foundation announced today that Scott Heitkamp, CPA, will be The Columbus Foundation’s next Vice President and Chief Financial Officer effective July 1, 2016—upon the retirement of Raymond J. Biddiscombe, CPA, the Foundation’s VP and CFO for the past 26 years.

Mr. Heitkamp is joining the Foundation directly from his position as Controller of the Dispatch Media Group in Columbus, Ohio.

“Scott has excelled at every step in his career, has great technical skills, and has consistently shown a winning way with people,” said Mr. Kridler.  “His capacity and track record for taking on complex challenges as well as his attention to detail in executing daily tasks was very attractive to us at the Foundation. He is the kind of proven leader and contributor to workplace culture that we were looking for to fill this vitally important position.”

Mr. Heitkamp is a graduate of Capital University, and a former Manager at KPMG LLP. Scott made the transition to his current position as the lead financial officer at the Dispatch Media Group and its central Ohio publications and operations upon the purchase of those publications by GateHouse Media from the Wolfe family-owned Dispatch Printing Company in June 2015. Prior to that transition, Mr. Heitkamp had served both WBNS-10TV and The Columbus Dispatch in numerous roles including Controller and Corporate Director of Financial Planning and Analysis.

“It is a great honor to follow such a respected professional as Ray Biddiscombe at such a distinguished organization as The Columbus Foundation,” said Mr. Heitkamp. “What Ray has been responsible for in aiding and accounting for the growth of The Columbus Foundation during his long tenure is truly remarkable. I understand what The Columbus Foundation means to our community, and the values it upholds in its stewardship role as one of our community’s premier anchor institutions. I couldn’t be more proud to be joining the Foundation leadership team and its great finance and administrative departments, to work on behalf of its donors and our community at large.”

Mr. Heitkamp will begin work at The Columbus Foundation on May 23, as to allow for an overlap with Mr. Biddiscombe’s final weeks in this position.
