"For generations our family has called central Ohio home. The community is an essential part of not only our family business, but our personal lives as well," said Edgar "Bill" Ingram III, president of the Ingram-White Castle Foundation. "It is important that through our giving, our foundation reflects our desire to invest in organizations and programs that directly impact and make a difference in people's lives."

The Ingram-White Castle Foundation was built on the same values that have grounded the Ingram family’s successful restaurant business for generations—fairness, hard work, determination, and the desire to help others. The foundation, like the business, is truly a family affair.

As one of 29 Supporting Foundations at The Columbus Foundation, the Ingram-White Castle Foundation’s mission is to support programs that “provide nourishment to those throughout central Ohio who hunger for knowledge, independence, and self-sufficiency.”

It accomplishes this by providing funds to programs that address academic success and critical human needs, as well as those that strengthen educational institutions. Since it became a Supporting Foundation in 1981, the Ingram-White Castle Foundation has awarded more than $21 million in grants and scholarships. The foundation has evolved to support the family and business as their needs have changed, serving not only as a vehicle for scholarships and grantmaking via a competitive process, but also to fund programs of interest to the family business. A new Family Matched Giving program recognizes and encourages philanthropy by matching family member gifts to eligible organizations.
