The Columbus Foundation Announces The Return Of The Big Give!

Online giving rally offers record $1.3 MILLION BONUS POOL, made possible by Foundation donors and community partners

All credit card fees covered–100% of donations go to charity! 630 local nonprofits included.


Columbus, OH (April 13, 2015)—The Columbus Foundation today announced The Big Give, a 24-hour online giving rally, will kick off at 10:00 a.m. EST on Tuesday, May 12, to benefit local nonprofits. The community-wide effort encourages people to show their community spirit and donate to one or more of their favorite local nonprofits in PowerPhilanthropy,® the Foundation’s online giving marketplace. The Big Give is a periodic, massive rally for the nonprofits of our community, which was last undertaken in 2013.

The Foundation is offering the largest bonus pool ever—$1.3 million provided by Foundation donors and community partners. A lead gift from Medical Mutual of Ohio tops the list of external contributions to the bonus pool, which is used to increase participants’ donations on a pro rata basis.

The Big Give is a community rally that helps those in need and supports many other causes in central Ohio.”

As part of its huge investment in making The Big Give successful and unique, The Columbus Foundation is again covering all credit card fees so that 100 percent of gifts go to charity. Prizes will also be provided to nonprofits to recognize creativity in promoting their organizations and The Big Give.

Everyone can participate in The Big Give. Donations can be made in honor or in memory of a loved one, or to support a favorite cause. Giving is easy, even on your mobile device. All major credit cards, with a minimum donation of $20, are accepted.

The Big Give Promotional Partners include DonatosHomage, and Piada, each of whom will be announcing in the coming weeks rewards for Big Give participants.

TheBigGive_LogoThe Big Give was created by The Columbus Foundation in 2011 to give the central Ohio nonprofit community an economic boost. Two events, held in 2011 and 2013, resulted in 32,039 gifts from 820 cities across the country. The past Big Give events have leveraged a total of $19.1 million for 569 central Ohio nonprofits.
