Each year, the J. Floyd Dixon Memorial Fund awards grants to nonprofit organizations located in Jackson County that focus primarily on education or health issues. Since its founding 17 years ago, the fund has distributed more than $637,000 in grants to 23 different organizations.
The Columbus Foundation today announced The Big Give, a 24-hour online giving rally, will kick off at 10:00 a.m. EST on Tuesday, May 12, to benefit local nonprofits. The community-wide effort encourages people to show their community spirit and donate to one or more of their favorite local nonprofits in PowerPhilanthropy,® the Foundation’s online giving marketplace.
The Columbus Foundation announced participants in its 2015 Summer Fellowship Program. Now in its sixth year, the program provides college students and recent college graduates with the opportunity to work with central Ohio nonprofit organizations.
The Columbus Foundation named Mayor Michael B. Coleman the 2015 winner of The Spirit of Columbus Award at an event held at the Foundation on April 17. The Spirit of Columbus Award, affectionately known as the The Jerries in honor of aviatrix Jerrie Mock, was established in 2013.
The John W. and Edna McManus Shepard Fund/Guernsey County Foundation has extended the grant application deadline to Friday, June 19, 2015. The Fund awards grants to benefit cultural and economic programs for Cambridge and Guernsey Counties.
