The Columbus Foundation named Tanny Crane and Jane Grote Abell winners of The Spirit of Columbus Award at an event held at the Foundation on April 18.
The Spirit of Columbus Award, affectionately known as the “Jerries” in honor of aviatrix Jerrie Mock, recognizes individuals who have exhibited exemplary community spirit through their accomplishments.
Interest in The Big Table, a new civic conversation project set for Aug. 30, has far surpassed expectations, organizers at the Columbus Foundation said this week. They recently developed a host toolkit — available for download from the foundation’s website — to help guide what likely will be hundreds of discussions.
What are you talking about this week? On Wednesday, more than 5,000 Columbus-area residents are expected to participate in at least 500 conversations to be held across the region as part of the Columbus Foundation’s “Big Table.”
Amy Stearns Acton, MD, and Matthew Martin will join The Columbus Foundation and serve as officers in the Community Research and Grants Management department. Dr. Acton and Martin bring extensive community experience and research backgrounds that will support the Foundation’s grantmaking and initiatives—with special emphasis in the areas of public health and neighborhood revitalization.
