Nourishing Neighborhood Well-Being

In March, The Columbus Foundation announced the 5 Nonprofits to Watch in 2024, a group of exemplary and dynamic nonprofits working to strengthen and improve the community. Among these organizations is Franklinton Farms, a vibrant urban farm dedicated to nourishing well-being and connection through farming, gardening, and education.

Founded in 2007 by a group of Franklinton residents committed to environmental sustainability and social justice, Franklinton Farms started as a community garden on vacant city land. Today, the organization operates 12 sites—all formerly blighted plots—and provides sustainable urban agriculture, therapeutic gardening education, safe natural spaces, and ecological beautification.

Importantly, Franklinton Farms also offers pick-up and neighborhood delivery of its produce, at subsidized prices, to help more individuals and families access fresh, nutritious foods. Working in collaboration with its Franklinton neighbors and community partners, Franklinton Farms is helping to build a local food system that supports food security, nutrition, and a healthier future—all while promoting connection and camaraderie among local residents.

Curious about Franklinton Farms’ community gardens? Use the interactive map below to learn more about the organization’s various sites, including the innovative programs and services offered at each location.
