As Founder and CEO of Zora’s House, LC Johnson is providing other women of color a place to realize their own dreams. Zora’s House is a coworking space and leadership incubator designed by and with women and gender-expansive people of color.

The Ohio to Erie Trail is a 326-mile network of multi-use trails that links the Ohio River at Cincinnati to Lake Erie at Cleveland, mostly on land once used for railroads and canals. A place for bicyclists, bird watchers, hikers, runners, cross-country skiers, and nature lovers alike, the Ohio to Erie Trail offers scenic views and dedicated space for recreation.

Patrick Losinski has spent a lot—and we mean a lot—of time around books. For more than two decades, Losinski has served as CEO of Columbus Metropolitan Library (CML). This year, as Columbus Metropolitan Library celebrates 150 years of inspiring readers and sparking imaginations, Losinski shared with The Columbus Foundation the impact that books and libraries have had on his life.

Small businesses are an integral part of our economy, creating jobs, spurring innovation, and fostering community. In fact, small businesses represent 98 percent of all businesses in Franklin County. When it comes to establishing and growing a small business, however, not all entrepreneurs have equitable access to resources, including capital.

Every student deserves the chance to pursue their educational dreams. At The Columbus Foundation, generous donors have established hundreds of scholarships, creating opportunities for high school and college students to achieve their educational goals and prepare them for future careers.

Tim Morbitzer and Giancarlo Miranda are big believers in giving back to the community. With the help of The Columbus Foundation, the couple carefully developed a planned gift that will support the causes they’re passionate about—social justice, the arts, and the welfare of dogs—long after they’ve passed.

Directions for Youth & Families has played a vital role in the community for more than a century, offering mental, emotional, and behavioral health services to thousands of youth and their families each year. In partnership with 23 nonprofit organizations, the new Crittenton Community Center will offer services that address food insecurity, housing stability, and more, helping DFYF expand its reach to provide critical social services to even more youth and families.

Today, the Arc of Appalachia, created by Executive Director Nancy Stranahan, includes 24 preserves, 8,000 acres, and is still rapidly growing. In 2012, the Arc of Appalachia – Highlands Nature Sanctuary Endowment Fund was established at The Columbus Foundation to help ensure the long-term viability and success of the Arc of Appalachia.
