SLAY SAFE, STAY CR8V

A conversation with SLAY SAFE mask designer Nicki Burton

At the height of the pandemic, Nicki Burton was one of the artists who shared her creativity to help others. In 2020, the Columbus Fashion Alliance asked Nicki to create a unique mask for SLAY SAFE—a campaign to bring fashion to face masks while protecting the community.

Excited for the opportunity to continue to produce her art and help others, Nicki used her design to speak to the community. Along with her signature line work and style, she included heartfelt messages that encouraged all to spread love, "stay cr8v," and stay safe.

I felt like creatives saved people's mental space during COVID.

The Columbus Foundation recently visited Nicki at her 400 Rich St. studio for a conversation about her SLAY SAFE design, her inspiration, and her other work. Watch it now!
