35,000 meals provided to 11 local food pantries
Columbus, OH (March 27, 2015)—The Columbus Foundation, the trusted philanthropic advisor® to more than 2,000 donors, recently launched an initiative to inspire generosity and collaboration. In keeping with The Spirit of Columbus, the Foundation is amplifying the positivity of community events by donating meals to food pantries in honor of each attendee.
“In our community, even when we come together to celebrate our successes, we keep an eye towards our challenges and those in need. This initiative exemplifies our commitment to an even better future for everyone,” said Douglas F. Kridler, president and CEO of The Columbus Foundation.
Since late 2014, The Columbus Foundation has made donations in collaboration with events such as the Chamber of Commerce and Experience Columbus annual meetings. To date, eight events have spurred the donation of 35,000 meals to 11 local food pantries.
“Civic participation is essential to a great community. This initiative celebrates our engaged citizenry. Our joining together can make sure that a family can do the same around a healthy meal,” Kridler said.
