The Columbus Foundation today celebrated the accomplishments of individual community leaders and organizations who, during the past year, have been recognized by their industry peers for their outstanding contributions to their fields. They were honored at the annual National Number Ones event held at the Foundation.

The Columbus Foundation is pleased to announce participants in its 2019 Summer Fellowship Program. Celebrating its tenth year, the program provides college students, recent college graduates, and graduate students the opportunity to work with central Ohio nonprofit organizations for a 10-week period.

The Columbus Foundation recognizes that our nonprofit organizations are on the front lines of holding together our community, helping thousands of residents stay healthy and safe, and providing critical resources for those who are struggling financially. The Columbus Foundation honors these extraordinary efforts and is proud to announce its “5 Nonprofits to Watch” in 2020.

Dee and Jimmy Haslam, investors/operators of the Columbus Crew SC, today informed The Columbus Foundation of their support for its Emergency Response Fund with a $500,000 gift to assist nonprofits affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Columbus region’s signature giving event, The Big Give, returns next month to support central Ohio nonprofits in great need during the COVID-19 crisis. The Big Give is a dynamic, 25-hour online giving event that provides a collective boost to the 1100+ nonprofits in The Giving Store who are working tirelessly to assist our community in these unprecedented times.

Twenty-four grants totaling nearly $30,000 were recently awarded from the ScottsMiracle-Gro Community Garden Academy Fund of The Columbus Foundation; the company also provided in-kind support to seven additional projects.

In 1964, flying in her Cessna airplane with “Spirit of Columbus” emblazoned on its side, Bexley housewife Jerrie Mock was the first woman to fly solo around the world.

The J. Floyd Dixon Memorial Fund is currently accepting applications for its 2014 grant program. The application deadline is Friday, May 30.
