The Robert E. and Genevieve B. Schaefer Fund has awarded 11 grants totaling more than $66,000 to organizations serving Chillicothe and Ross County.

The B.A. Seitz Fund has awarded 16 grants totaling $22,000 to organizations serving Seneca County.

The Columbus Foundation named Denny Griffith, president of Columbus College of Art & Design, the 2014 winner of The Spirit of Columbus Award at an event held at the Foundation on April 17.

Nonprofit organizations supporting education, social services, community events and recreation, and youth received an economic boost from The Paul G. Duke Foundation. The foundation recently announced grants totaling more than $240,000 to benefit nonprofits in the Miami County area.

Franklin County Commissioner Marilyn Brown will lead a public-private task force to forge a comprehensive solution for families facing a devastating housing crisis. The partnership will identify, improve, and create services to keep families in their homes and halt an over reliance on the emergency shelter system, which is reeling from the surge of central Ohio families turning to homeless shelters.

The Columbus Foundation’s Governing Committee recently approved five grants totaling $365,000 from the Fund for Financial Innovation (FFI). FFI was established in 2010 to support nonprofit organizations and projects that promote social enterprise collaborations, affiliations, and mergers.

The J. Floyd Dixon Memorial Fund of Community Foundations, Inc. has awarded grants totaling $41,500 to 10 nonprofit and local governmental organizations serving Jackson County.
