Physical changes abound in Weinland Park, a neighborhood of 4,800 residents just southeast of The Ohio State University. Old, boarded-up houses have given way to new and renovated homes, tulips bloom where empty parking lots once sat, and corner carry-outs that were a hub for crime and drug activities have been shuttered for good. In 2016, a survey funded by The Columbus Foundation, in conjunction with the WPC, was conducted by The Ohio State University’s Kirwan Institute for the Study of Race and Ethnicity. Intended to act as a tool to evaluate investment efforts, it offers a snapshot of where things stand today, and where future investments could be made.

Andrew Levitt has a booming voice and a big heart to match. From volunteer opportunities and service projects in high school and college, to becoming involved in the community during his adult life, helping others was, and is, an important part of what makes him who he is today.

Mid-Ohio Food Collective (MOFC) was founded in 1980 with the mission to feed hungry people in our community. Since then, the organizations shifted to focus on getting to know those they serve better beyond procuring and delivering food, instead focusing also on developing ways to create a hunger-free, healthier community. 2020 was a year unlike any other MOFC has seen, and the organization distributed what amounts to 170,000 meals a day, a 25–30 percent increase over the previous year.

Celebrating a proud legacy of giving was at the core of a recent decision by the Greer Foundation, a Supporting Foundation of The Columbus Foundation, to give an extraordinary $1 million gift to help Mid-Ohio Food Collective (MOFC) continue its mission to end hunger one nourishing meal at a time and co-create a community where everyone thrives.

In 2021, The Columbus Foundation awarded two grants totaling $80,000 to MAG to help support the restoration and repair of the theatre.

The Charitable Pharmacy of Central Ohio opened in February 2010 and its mission, then and now, is to increase access to prescription medications for low-income, uninsured, and underinsured Franklin County residents.
