Each year, The Columbus Foundation recognizes 5 Nonprofits to Watch that are addressing pressing community issues. Congratulations to the 5 Nonprofits to Watch in 2024: Affordable Housing Alliance of Central Ohio, Franklinton Farms, Mansion Day School, Native American Indian Center of Central Ohio, and We Amplify Voices.

Together with donors, nonprofit leaders, and community members, we honored extraordinary acts of generosity at the annual Celebration of Philanthropy. In this month’s At the Table, we’re thrilled to feature the 2024 honorees of The Harrison M. Sayre Award and The Columbus Foundation Award, as well as share news of a historic, transformational gift to the central Ohio community.

In March 2024, The Columbus Foundation named Franklinton Farms as one of the 5 Nonprofits to Watch. Congress first enacted this technique, officially called a “qualified charitable distribution,” in 2006, and made the technique permanent in 2015. It can make charitable giving from IRAs exceedingly easy, which is generally not the case for giving from retirement plans during a donor’s lifetime.
