A $40,000 grant from the Emergency Response Fund to Clintonville-Beechwold Community Resources Center provided food, household and personal necessities, and supported an emergency fund to help families meet basic needs.

When asked to describe her mother, the words come easily for Matina Zenios. Compassionate. Caring. Loving. Big-hearted. Kind. Sue Bouzounis was all these things and more. The Artina “Choose Kind” Fund was established in March 2019 as a way for the company to facilitate its philanthropy and honor Sue. Through the fund, the family plans to support organizations with a mission to help families and children facing situations of need, such as homelessness, severe illness, financial distress, and other challenges—all things that were meaningful to Sue.

In 2024, Lower Lights Ministries officially opened the Lower Lights Child Enrichment Center, which now serves infants and children up to age 5. Recognizing the importance of high-quality early learning experiences for local families, The Columbus Foundation, its Supporting Foundations, and its donors awarded more than $325,000 in grants toward the project. With the Child Enrichment Center now operating, Lower Lights Ministries is helping to develop young minds so that children, too, can grow into healthy, thriving adults.

Since 2022, The Columbus Foundation has partnered with Compost Clubhouse to offer on-site compost collection for staff and guests, diverting more than 18,500 pounds of waste from landfills and turning everyday scraps into meaningful environmental impact.
