The Columbus Foundation appointed Marchelle E. Moore, Senior Vice President and Chief Legal Officer and Corporate Secretary for Encova Mutual Insurance Group, and Matthew A. Scantland, Principal at Twofold Ventures, and co-founder and former CEO of CoverMyMeds, to serve on its Governing Committee in 2021.

The Columbus Foundation announced “5 Nonprofits to Watch”, debuting a new annual program to identify innovative nonprofits that are positioned to make a significant difference in our community.

The Columbus Foundation’s Governing Committee recently approved six grants totaling $317,250 from the Fund for Financial Innovation (FFI). FFI was established in 2010 to support nonprofit organizations and projects that promote social innovation and social enterprise; and partnerships, collaborations, affiliations, or mergers.

Local nonprofit organizations working to improve the quality of life for central Ohioans will receive a boost as 2015 kicks off—with 36 grants recently approved by the Foundation’s Governing Committee, totaling $679,795. Junior Achievement receives support for New Frontiers program and Harmony Project is named Continuous Improvement grant recipient.

Meeting the Challenges of an Aging Population with Success, a new report commissioned by The Columbus Foundation and the Osteopathic Heritage Foundations, reveals the current and projected needs of seniors while identifying key opportunities for improving their quality of life.

The Columbus Foundation, the trusted philanthropic advisor® to more than 2,000 donors, recently launched an initiative to inspire generosity and collaboration. In keeping with The Spirit of Columbus, the Foundation is amplifying the positivity of community events by donating meals to food pantries in honor of each attendee.

Music can open up new horizons for students, aiding them in their other studies and giving them an outlet for expression. It also can foster a lifelong and life-enriching interest. Recognizing the enduring importance of music, David and Nanci Gobey have pledged a generous gift of $1.5 million to buy instruments and pay for other music-related expenses in Columbus City Schools. Their gift, made through a trust set up with the Columbus Foundation, even will allow Columbus high-school graduates who meet academic requirements to potentially keep the instrument they’ve been using during their school years.
