Community Foundations, Inc., an affiliate of The Columbus Foundation, is now accepting grant applications from nonprofit organizations serving Ross County in the areas of cultural development, health and human welfare, economic development, and underprivileged youth.

The Columbus Foundation is seeking college and graduate students and recent college graduates who have an interest in the nonprofit sector to apply to the 2024 Summer Fellowship Program. Applications are due Friday, December 8, 2023.

The Columbus Foundation announced more than $2.6 million in grants to 30 local nonprofit organizations supporting a variety of capital improvement projects to help organizations enhance and expand service delivery, renovate and update facilities, purchase new equipment and technology, and more.

Each year, The Columbus Foundation recognizes 5 Nonprofits to Watch that are addressing pressing community issues. Congratulations to the 5 Nonprofits to Watch in 2024: Affordable Housing Alliance of Central Ohio, Franklinton Farms, Mansion Day School, Native American Indian Center of Central Ohio, and We Amplify Voices.

Stephen and Nancy Van Heyde established this fund in memory of their son, Ian. Ian was a senior at Whetstone High School and a distinguished student in culinary arts at Northeast Career Center. The purpose of the fund is to preserve the memory of Ian, an ever-smiling teenager, and to perpetuate his reputation for helping others. As he was intensely interested in a career in culinary arts, the scholarship fund will award scholarships to students pursuing postsecondary studies in the culinary arts, food management, or restaurant management.

The scholarship provides post-secondary educational assistance to the outstanding scholar of each graduating class of Whitehall-Yearling High School, in Whitehall, Ohio.

The fund was established by John White, Sr., in memory of his late wife, Elsie Mae, who was concerned with improving the lives of disadvantaged children. Mrs. White was a self-taught woman with impeccable manners and style. The fund provides scholarship assistance in the form of tuition and fees to African-American students who are pursuing higher education or training at both the undergraduate and graduate levels to achieve specific goals. This scholarship is primarily for students attending, or planning to attend, land grant colleges and universities.

This fund will provide last dollar grants to graduates of Groveport-Madison High School (Ohio).

The scholarship is for students from the Hilltop area of Columbus who have a strong commitment to community service.

This scholarship fund was established in memory of Brian Muha, a 1998 graduate of St. Charles Preparatory School. The fund will provide financial assistance to enable an economically disadvantaged young man to attend St. Charles Preparatory School.
