Columbus, OH (November 27, 2016)—The Columbus Foundation is encouraging acts of kindness in many forms for Giving Tuesday on November 29, 2016. Giving Tuesday is an opportunity to help others and make a difference in central Ohio. It was created in 2012 as a global day to give back and show generosity following the hustle and bustle of Black Friday and Cyber Monday.

Columbus, OH (November 30, 2016)—A report released today showcases how Columbus measures up with other cities around the country in categories including economic strength, personal prosperity, and community wellbeing.

After more than two decades of ambitious revitalization efforts, residents of Weinland Park — by a large majority — believe their neighborhood is getting better.

The J. Floyd Dixon Memorial Fund of Community Foundations, Inc. has awarded grants totaling $44,000 to 10 nonprofit and local governmental organizations serving Jackson County.

The Columbus Foundation welcomed Sharee Blackmon, PhD, to the organization as the Director of Human Resources.

The Columbus Foundation announced that Erin Scott has joined the organization as the Director of Capacity Building and Community Knowledge.

The fund was established in 1926 "for the propagation of the Gospel of Jesus Christ," to be used to educate those interested in the ministry; or as a missionary; or ordained professional minister of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ); or for some definite religious work in connection with the church. Priority is given to members or former members of Gender Road Christian Church (formerly known as Southeast Christian Church).

The scholarship is given in memory of Greg Farnham, a Westerville North High School graduate. It supports Westerville North High School senior athletes who demonstrate excellence in academics and sportsmanship, and who plan to attend an Ohio college or university.

Established in memory of Clint Nicely, an outstanding student-athlete at Worthington High School, this fund provides an annual scholarship for a student-athlete from his alma mater. Student athletes who have contributed on the high school baseball team, who rank in the top half of their class academically, who are enrolling in a college or university following graduation, and who are overall assets to the area Worthington High School serves.

The scholarship provides support to underserved students.
