The Paul J. Falco Scholarship provides a scholarship opportunity to high school level students from the Village of Marble Cliff who demonstrate outstanding scholastic and leadership qualities. The late Paul J. Falco, who served as Mayor of the Village for 36 years, was an ardent supporter of the Village, its residents, and the pursuit of life-long learning. The generosity of this endowment by Mayor Falco and his wife Bobbie Hall Falco provides the opportunity to recognize the talented youth of the Village of Marble Cliff. In its 20 years of existence the Paul J. Falco Scholarship Committee has awarded over $100,000 in scholarships to residents of the Village of Marble Cliff.

Dorothy Cage's dream was to ensure underserved and economically challenged youth in our community had the tools they needed to succeed in life. Dorothy and her family awarded hundreds of scholarships and invested in laptops, books, and school-related expenses for youth in need. She had a gift for revealing to young people their own potential. By demonstrating her genuine care and affection for them, Dorothy instilled pride and self-confidence and inspired students to achieve greatness. Her legacy will be seen in the successful lives of the students for whom she committed her time, resources, and love. This scholarship fund honors Dorothy’s memory as a shining example of a life well lived.

The scholarship was created by Ron Betz to honor his husband, Michael Kibbey. Michael Kibbey was a wonderful, caring, and generous Gay man. The scholarship honors him for his lifetime of generosity and loyalty to Gay and other humanitarian causes that he diligently supported. There is no higher cause than helping youth become productive, educated members of society who can help build a better and more compassionate world.

The scholarship supports caddies or children of caddies at Scioto Country Club or Old Collier Golf Club in pursuing their education.

Middle West Spirits has diverged from their usual production of alcohol to produce hand sanitizer for frontline responders, including EMS and shelter staff. In this unique partnership, The Columbus Foundation will purchase the first $50,000 of sanitizer to equip local EMS operations and homeless shelters.

The Columbus Foundation today announced Roshelle Pate, also known as the “Food Soldier,” as the 2021 recipient of The Spirit of Columbus Award. Pate was selected as the honoree in recognition of the work she and thousands of volunteers do to feed food insecure neighbors, especially during the hardest days of the pandemic.

In 2020, The Columbus Foundation distributed grants totaling $231,303,389, an all-time high, with a record-breaking 4,534 organizations receiving at least one gift. The Foundation's 2020 annual grantmaking numbers underlie the magnitude of need brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic, as well as the significant charitable gifts that helped to alleviate those hardships.
