Communities In Schools of Ohio (CIS of Ohio) surrounds students with a community of support, empowering them to stay in school and achieve in life. The organization partners with individual schools to help bridge gaps students face each day so they can focus on schoolwork. CIS of Ohio places a School Site Coordinator inside each partner school to help support whole-school events, small groups of students, or individually case-managed students. School Site Coordinators serve as community resource partners, advocates, caring adult role models, and family support liaisons to create a web of support and access to resources and opportunities. Additionally, CIS of Ohio frequently provides assistance with basic needs like food, weather-appropriate clothing, toiletries, school uniforms, school supplies, and more through its Resource Rooms.

Over the past year CIS of Ohio has served more than 15,000 students, with more than 1,200 students receiving individualized and targeted support to best meet their needs. The organization’s work has ripple effects on the students, schools, families, and communities it serves. Support for this Better Together project will help stock and expand existing Resource Rooms with toiletries, clothing, nonperishable food, and school supplies. Being able to stock these rooms in the summer will enable them to be ready to assist students in the fall. With your help, CIS of Ohio can ensure students have the resources they need to thrive.
