Fostering Hope and Dignity
Friends of CASA of Franklin County
Support for Friends of CASA of Franklin County will help provide age-appropriate travel bags for children moving between foster homes.
Thanks to you and other generous donors, Friends of Court Appointed Special Advocates of Franklin County, Ohio (Friends of CASA of Franklin County) will provide age-appropriate travel bags for children moving between foster homes.
There were 1,735 children referred for ongoing case management services by Franklin County Children’s Services to organizations like CASA in 2022, and 1,546 children were placed in foster care. A report from 2020 showed that 27 percent of Ohio children in foster care were placed in more than two homes that year.
Children moving from foster home to foster home often transport their belongings in a trash bag. Having to carry a part of their identity in this way adds to the trauma and turmoil they already experience. It takes away their dignity and can lead to bullying from other children, further diminishing an already reduced sense of self-worth.
Thank you for enabling Friends of CASA of Franklin County to provide a sense of hope and dignity to these children.
We are Better Together!
“An overnight bag may not seem like much to many of us, but for a child facing repeated separations and uncertainties, having something of their own to pack, and which allows them to treat their belongings with respect, is of major importance. After all, everyone wants to feel as though the things we identify with are worth caring for.”
