CANARY Ice Core and Education Fund
The principal goals are to preserve a unique archive of ice cores for future research and support young scientists to extract climatic and environmental histories from the cores.

Dr. Lonnie G. Thompson, a glaciologist, and Dr. Ellen Mosley-Thompson, an atmospheric scientist, are also paleoclimatologists, spouses, and research partners who founded and oversee the Ice Core Paleoclimatology Research Group at the Byrd Polar and Climate Research Center at The Ohio State University. Lonnie and Ellen have made it their life's work to collect and analyze ice cores from the polar ice sheets and Earth’s highest mountain glaciers in tropical and sub-tropical regions and to ensure that future scientists are prepared for the vital work of using the unique histories preserved in the ice cores to address issues associated with global climate and environmental change. Their research is featured in a September 2023 released documentary film, named Canary, that captures their life's work and extraordinary lives.
