Since 1999, 2nd & 7 has worked with the local schools to promote literacy in second grade classrooms by using student-athlete role models. The organization has provided more than 750,000 free books to kids in need through its reading program. With children significantly behind in basic reading skills, the need for literacy support in our communities is more critical than ever—and one of the most effective ways to increase literacy skills is access to age-appropriate reading materials.
