$1M+ Bonus Pool and COVID-19 giving options announced
COLUMBUS, OH (May 7, 2020) — The Columbus region’s signature giving event, The Big Give, returns next month to support central Ohio nonprofits in great need during the COVID-19 crisis.
The 25-hour online event will take place from June 10 at 10 a.m. ET through June 11 at 11:00 a.m. ET at columbusfoundation.org. All gifts received during The Big Give will be boosted on a pro rata basis thanks to a $1 million+ Bonus Pool made possible by generous donors and corporate and community partners. In addition, all credit card fees will be covered, so 100 percent of each donation goes directly to nonprofits.
New this year are several options to support individuals, families, and nonprofits struggling with the effects of COVID-19.
- Service!, a relief effort for unemployed hospitality workers, identifies and utilizes resources to eliminate hunger among restaurant industry workers and their families.
- The Foundation’s Gift of Kindness Fund is a community-focused fund that helps central Ohio individuals and families with emergency needs by partnering with local nonprofit agencies to provide one-time grants that offer an immediate financial boost—an especially critical need during the COVID-19 pandemic.
- The Emergency Response Fund was developed by the Foundation in March to support Franklin County nonprofit organizations as they assist those in our community affected by the Coronavirus pandemic.
“The Big Give was built on the premise that, by working together, we can achieve much more than we ever could alone. We look forward, especially in these times of greater need than ever, to joining with you and others in a way that will show the world the generous and caring and kind community we are.”
DOUGLAS F. KRIDLER, PRESIDENT AND CEO OF THE COLUMBUS FOUNDATION
Nonprofits in Delaware, Fairfield, Franklin, Hocking, Licking, Madison, Morrow, Perry, Pickaway, and Union counties are eligible to participate in The Big Give.
Donations can be made to any of the 1,100+ central Ohio nonprofits in The Giving Store for as little as $20. In addition to credit cards, this year, PayPal, Apple Pay, and Google Pay can also be used to donate.
Created in 2011 to give nonprofits an economic boost, the past four Big Give events (2011, 2013, 2015, and 2017) have leveraged a total of $52.2 million for central Ohio nonprofits.
