“Godspeed, Columbus Foundation!”—John Glenn
Columbus, OH (March 27, 2015)—The Columbus Foundation was formed more than 70 years ago by an enthusiastic group of civic leaders, led by Harrison M. Sayre, president of American Education Press. Sayre built the Foundation on the idea that together, through the creation and investment of individual charitable funds to benefit the community, we could collectively create opportunities for all.
To celebrate the generosity and dedication of its donors, and the Foundation’s growth and community impact, we’re happy to share A Spirited Journey, A Portrait of The Columbus Foundation’s First 70 Years, a new comprehensive history book, available online.
In the opening remarks, John Glenn congratulates donors who have made the growth and success of the Foundation possible over seventy years, and closes on a note for the future, “Godspeed, Columbus Foundation!”
“Columbus Foundation donors have turned their passion for the community into purpose through strategic, thoughtful charitable giving that continues to have an enduring impact on the community we know today,” said Douglas F. Kridler, president and CEO of The Columbus Foundation.
Authored by Eric Jensen, a member of the Donor Services and Development Team, who is a published historian, the book features both the donors and supporters who were instrumental in creating the Foundation, and documents its growth, impact, and progress—along with highlights of the past 15 years.
