The scholarship honors Robert Hawkins, a dedicated teacher who instilled in his students a desire to think for themselves, allowing them to discuss current topics and how they would be personally affected. He taught Spanish for 40 years in the Upper Arlington School District and at The Ohio State University. Robert's love of languages is evident in his degrees in Italian and Spanish, having studied in Ecuador, Italy, Mexico, and Spain. He also studied Arabic, French, German, Latin, and Portuguese.
