In recent years, Ohio has ranked as one of the worst states in the country when it comes to infant mortality (the death of a baby before his/her first birthday). The Moms2B program was developed in 2010 to focus on central Ohio zip codes with the highest infant mortality rates, and provide the women in those neighborhoods with tools, support, and education to help them deliver full-term, healthy babies—and keep those babies healthy and safe during their first year of life.

For the critical role it plays in our nonprofit community, and in turn the impact it has on the clients our nonprofits serve, The Columbus Foundation awards the 2020 Columbus Foundation Award to the Human Service Chamber of Franklin County.

Over the past six months, 93 percent of Better Together projects, the Foundation's crowd-funding platform, have met or exceeded their fundraising goals, and more than $91,000 has been raised. One recent project that surpassed its fundraising goal, Bikes for All People, was launched to help Bikes for All People cover the parts and labor necessary to prepare bikes and helmets for children.

It was Brandy Jemczura’s two young children who initially inspired her idea to create Seeds of Caring back in 2016. As she thought about what she wanted her children to grow up and be like, she kept coming back to the same notion—the kind of people who, if they see something in their community they aren’t okay with, will do something.

Inspired by Roberta Jones-Booth's love and unwavering support of her community, family and friends, her family established the Roberta Jones Booth Scholarship Fund in 2004. The scholarship supports students who are graduating seniors from Marion Franklin High School or who reside within the Marion Franklin Civic Association boundaries.
