The John W. and Edna McManus Shepard Fund and Guernsey County Foundation recently awarded eight grants totaling $17,000 to organizations serving Cambridge and Guernsey counties.

Charitable giving is big business, and big businesses are increasingly strategic and thoughtful in how they approach their philanthropy. In central Ohio, they turn to the Columbus Foundation and its Center for Corporate Philanthropy for guidance to make their giving more effective. To examine how corporate philanthropy is changing, Columbus CEO and the Columbus Foundation teamed up to invite six local companies to discuss their approaches.

As The Columbus Foundation’s chief development officer, Ms. Parsons will lead the Donor Services and Development team while continuing to work with financial advisors and individuals, families, and businesses in creating philanthropic funds and planned gifts to strengthen and improve the community.

The Robert E. and Genevieve B. Schaefer Fund has awarded 17 grants totaling $120,798 to organizations serving Chillicothe and Ross County.

The Columbus Foundation announced a new Critical Need Alert focused on creating positive futures for at-risk youth in Franklin County through strategic partnerships with three innovative nonprofits in the technology workforce development sector: Digital Works, i.c. Stars, and Per Scholas. The Pathways Project: Technology Training and Careers for At-risk Youth will help launch 125 in-demand technology careers for youth in Franklin County who are not in school and not working.

The Columbus Foundation announced its grantmaking totals for 2021 during the organization’s annual Celebration of Philanthropy events today. In a year of firsts and records, The Columbus Foundation and its donors gave more than ever to assist nonprofits in the central Ohio region and beyond in 2021, providing much-needed support to thousands of nonprofit organizations as many grappled with the ongoing effects of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Five settlement houses in central Ohio are awarded the inaugural HumanKindness Prize and will each receive a $10,000 grant from The Columbus Foundation’s Center for HumanKindness.

The Columbus Foundation has announced the appointment of officers and members to serve on its Governing Committee in 2023, following the Committee’s board meeting in November.
