The scholarship provides assistance to dependent children of members of Columbus Division of Fire.

Dr. Roger Steven Compton was a dedicated educational leader who felt it was both a privilege and an honor to be a school superintendent. It brought Roger great joy to provide the best possible education for students. He enjoyed all aspects of life from sports to the performing arts. The Roger S. Compton Memorial Scholarship is given in his name to keep alive his spirit for helping students realize their dreams through a quality education.

The scholarship was created in the name of Muriel Reed-Faulkner, who was born on February 2, 1939 in Champaign County, Ohio. She was a daughter of Donald and Esther (Rose) Reed and a 1957 graduate of Urbana High School. She also graduated from Capital University with a major in piano and oboe. Muriel was a first-grade teacher who began her teaching career at East Elementary in Urbana, Ohio, retiring from Upper Arlington Schools in Upper Arlington, Ohio.

Community Foundations, Inc., an affiliate of The Columbus Foundation, is now accepting grant applications from nonprofit organizations serving Ross County in the areas of cultural development, health and human welfare, economic development, and underprivileged youth.

The Columbus Foundation is seeking college and graduate students and recent college graduates who have an interest in the nonprofit sector to apply to the 2024 Summer Fellowship Program. Applications are due Friday, December 8, 2023.

Stephen and Nancy Van Heyde established this fund in memory of their son, Ian. Ian was a senior at Whetstone High School and a distinguished student in culinary arts at Northeast Career Center. The purpose of the fund is to preserve the memory of Ian, an ever-smiling teenager, and to perpetuate his reputation for helping others. As he was intensely interested in a career in culinary arts, the scholarship fund will award scholarships to students pursuing postsecondary studies in the culinary arts, food management, or restaurant management.

The scholarship provides post-secondary educational assistance to the outstanding scholar of each graduating class of Whitehall-Yearling High School, in Whitehall, Ohio.
