Darrell McDade Memorial Scholarship
The scholarship will be awarded to a West High School student athlete in memory of Darrell McDade, a former student athlete and 1986 graduate of West High School. Darrell was a teacher, coach, and mentor to many City League students. He worked in Columbus City Schools elementary and high school special needs classrooms, and coached football, baseball, and girls’ basketball at West. Coach McDade supported his student athletes both on and off the field, and this scholarship is a way to continue that support in his memory.
Eligibility Criteria:
- Candidates must be graduating high school seniors or graduates of West High School who plan to attend any public or nonprofit college, university, or community college.
- Candidates must have participated in athletics for at least two years, one of which must be their senior year.
- Candidates must have attended West High School for their full junior and senior years.
- Candidates must have a minimum 2.5 grade point average on a 4.0 scale.
- Candidates must attend or plan to attend an educational institution in the U.S.
- Preference may be given to varsity letter winners, those who participated in multiple sports, or those who participated in athletics during all four years of high school.
