Connect Kids with Nature
Grange Insurance Audubon Center
Playing outside in a safe environment is essential for kids of all ages. Support the renovation of Grange Audubon’s education and play spaces and help connect kids with nature!
Do you remember playing outside as a young child? For many children today, the opportunity to “play outside” is a foreign concept. Your gift will help kids discover nature through both free and explorative play.
Grange Insurance Audubon Center (Grange Audubon) serves thousands of children annually through preschool story time, camps, events, and a school-year multi-visit Conservation Classroom partnership with 50 classrooms from Columbus City Schools.
This renovation, featuring enhanced education and play spaces, will provide opportunities for improved overall mental and physical health, promote social interactions, strengthen gross motor skills, and help kids develop a deeper understanding of the world around them.
“When I connected with nature I felt freedom. When I was outside I felt like I was an animal living in nature.”
— 4th grade student from John Burroughs Elementary School
With your generous support, this project can be completed this year and will feature a new trail of life-sized animal tracks that will lead to indoor play-spaces and an enhanced bird viewing area. Adding to its multi-level bird-viewing windows, Grange Audubon will transform a classroom into a “treehouse” setting with interactive multi-sensory murals featuring native habitat and living exhibits. Outside, an enhanced nature space with elements like plants, soil, rock formations, sticks, logs and water to be touched and handled, not just observed, will be created to stimulate and promote a sense of wonder.
Your support will give kids the opportunity to explore the natural world. We are Better Together!
Awaken and connect participants to the beauty of the natural world in the heart of Columbus and inspire environmental stewardship in their daily lives.
