Delivering Hope with a Red Cross Bloodmobile
American Red Cross - Ohio Buckeye Region
Every dollar counts! You can help save lives by supporting the final push toward a new Red Cross of Central Ohio Bloodmobile. Your gift of $20 or more will be doubled with a $1 for $1 match (up to $15,000)!
The need for blood is constant. Every two seconds, someone in America needs blood, a life-saving resource that cannot be replaced or duplicated without volunteer blood donors. Red Cross delivers hope to people experiencing emergencies. When an unexpected trauma leaves a patient needing blood or when a child is fighting for their life by undergoing chemotherapy treatment, the Red Cross is there to help.
“When I received word my son Troy had cancer, I was in shock. Watching Troy’s health improve after getting blood and platelet products, it was amazing to see him go from this lifeless boy to a son who had energy and life to him. To all the blood and platelet donors I want to say thank you so much for helping my son Troy get better. Blood donations mean the world to us.”
— Veronica Stemen, teacher at St. Agatha School in Upper Arlington
The Red Cross must respond at a moment’s notice to deliver blood to individuals who are sick or injured, making every opportunity to collect blood critical. While 67 percent of the population is eligible to give blood in the U.S., only 3 percent donate annually. A new mobile unit in central Ohio will increase everyone’s access to a donation drive across all 27 central Ohio regional counties—as some areas do not have space to hold traditional blood collection events.
Whether or not you give blood, you can help. Your support of this Better Together project will go directly toward a new Red Cross of Central Ohio Bloodmobile. The Red Cross has already raised $245,000 of $275,000 needed. All donations of $20 or more will be doubled with a $1 for $1 match (up to $15,000) until November 6! Your gift will help us drive the Red Cross past the finish line and DELIVER HOPE!
“We currently must rely on a 20-year-old bloodmobile in central Ohio which is costing us more and more each year—both in drives cancelled and preventative and corrective maintenance. As we are almost at goal due to the generosity of individuals, our board, small grants from family foundations, and family- owned businesses throughout the region, along with this new inspiring matching gift from an anonymous donor, your gift through Better Together will help us be able to replace it—both saving money and, most importantly, lives!”
— Kurt Anders, Ohio Buckeye Region, Interim CEO
