Mental Health Matters
Jewish Family Services
Support for Jewish Family Services will help provide mental health services for individuals in our community.
Jewish Family Services is a safe space for community members of all faiths, races, ages, and identities who need help becoming financially self-sufficient and emotionally stable. Its services include employment assistance, life skills coaching, financial coaching, emergency financial assistance, help accessing public and community benefits, case management, and counseling. Jewish Family Services is committed to meeting the needs of our community as effectively and compassionately as possible.
"Referrals for mental health services are still steadily increasing and there aren’t enough affordable options for the community's needs. We’re seeing clients who feel so overwhelmed that even small tasks feel impossible. They’re isolated and exhausted and it may be months before a provider can see them.”
—Michele Wilbur, LISW-S, Manager of Clinical Services and Case Management
Mental health is an important part of overall health, and the services offered by Jewish Family Services have become increasingly vital during the pandemic due to the effects of ongoing isolation, anxiety, and social and emotional uncertainty. Many clients either don’t have insurance coverage for mental health services or their coverage is insufficient for the help they need. Addressing mental health needs empowers individuals to be more focused as Jewish Family Services helps them overcome barriers and improve their quality of life.
Support for this Better Together project will allow Jewish Family Services to increase the number of clients who receive counseling services. If fully funded, this project will provide approximately eight individuals with mental health services, allowing them to become more resilient and enhance their likelihood of success in the future.
We are Better Together!
"I came to Jewish Family Services facing health issues, familial upheaval, and my career field being rendered nonexistent for the foreseeable future. Above all, Jewish Family Services made me feel unashamed in asking for help. There is always hope to improve one’s life when organizations like Jewish Family Services exist."
