Wrapped in Love

My Very Own Blanket

Support for My Very Own Blanket will help purchase new equipment to make blankets for children in foster care.

RAISED $150.00
GOAL $8,000.00

My Very Own Blanket (MVOB) is dedicated to warming the heart of every child in the foster care system with a blanket. MVOB connects diverse people, community groups, businesses, and services through volunteer opportunities that support children in foster care. Through the loving care of volunteers, thousands of handmade blankets are created and donated and each blanket is personalized with the child’s name–a tradition that began in 1999. These gifts are comforting and familiar, and children can take them from one home to another.

In Franklin County, there are roughly 15,000 children in foster and kinship care. Each day, volunteers come to MVOB’s workshop and sew on the special tags to the fleece that is made into blankets. Yet, the workshop’s equipment is outdated and has started to break down.

“So far this year, we have donated 450 blankets, and our goal is 600 blankets in 2022. The way we are going, I think we can make it. I have 14 lovely ladies who are helping make blankets. Thank you again for letting me participate in this wonderful ministry; it has been one of the highlights of my life (besides my grandchildren).”

—Carolyn, Volunteer

Support for this Better Together project will help purchase new equipment and supplies so volunteers are able to complete this important work in an easier and more efficient manner. This will include sewing machines, drafting chairs, cutting mats, rotary cutters, and more. With your help, MVOB can continue to provide love and support to children in foster care.
