The scholarship fund was established by a bequest from Dorothy “Dottie” Redfern and will provide educational assistance to students in the Southern Local School District of Perry County. Dottie graduated from Columbus South High School in 1954 and from The Ohio State University College of Education in 1958. Following a 35-year career as an editor and writer of biomedical and education publications, she retired as Editorial Manager at Ross Products Division/Abbott Nutrition. Dottie passed away in 2019.

A successful giving event hosted by the Columbus Foundation is coming back this fall. The Big Give will return Oct. 10-11, a 26-hour online rally that this year will seek donors for 1,000 nonprofits in 10 counties in Central Ohio.

Gregg Oosterbaan has joined The Columbus Foundation as Vice President of Information Technology. In this role, he is responsible for driving the strategic technology direction of the Foundation, as well as developing and supporting the Foundation’s portfolio of enterprise business applications and core infrastructure services, including the Foundation’s vibrant online giving marketplace, The Giving Store.

The Foundation announced today that more than $1.5 million has been raised for The Big Give Bonus Pool, besting the previous high of $1.4 million for the last event in 2017. During the annual Celebration of Philanthropy event, The Columbus Foundation announced unprecedented investments in four key, strategic areas over the next 18 months. To support the ongoing revitalization efforts in the Weinland Park neighborhood, southeast of The Ohio State University, The Columbus Foundation’s Governing Committee has approved a total of $888,640 in grants to date in 2014 from the Foundation’s Fund for Community Improvement.
