Social Enterprises

Social enterprises focus on a social objective as a primary purpose. With a goal of also maximizing profit, the profit is used to further the nonprofit’s social objective.

The Columbus Foundation supports the work of GiveBackHackSEA Change, and Innovation Catalyst. Nonprofits interested in financial support for social enterprises are encouraged to first explore these programs, as each provides valuable lessons and coaching.

The Foundation, on a limited basis, does invest directly in nonprofit social enterprises. Existing nonprofit organizations currently operating a social enterprise are eligible to apply. New nonprofits an existing nonprofits launching a new social enterprise may be considered depending upon readiness to launch. All applicants must demonstrate a substantial benefit to Franklin County.

Applications for direct funding are accepted on a rolling basis.
